“Handed over the dynasty, and was murdered anyway”
Installed for eighteen months to satisfy a prophecy, then made to write out his own abdication — which he did, remarking that the Jin had ended long before. Liu Yu had him smothered a year later. Every southern dynasty afterwards killed the emperor it replaced; this is where that started.
His wife, Chu Lingyuan, was the granddaughter of Chu Suanzi, and the last empress of the Jin.
She is among the eleven on the Eastern Jin silk.
