Wang Ren
Wang Ren 王仁 — Olvidando la Benevolencia. Hermano mayor de Wang Xifeng, cuyo nombre hace un juego de palabras con 忘仁 — olvidando la benevolencia — y quien pasa la novela demostrándolo.
王仁
“Forgetting Benevolence”
His Story
Wang Xifeng’s elder brother, whose name puns on 忘仁 — forgetting benevolence — and who spends the novel proving it. He is useless while his sister is alive and dangerous once she is dead. In Chapter 118, with Jia Huan and Jia Qiang, he arranges to sell his own niece Qiaojie as a concubine to a distant prince and tells the household it is a fine marriage. He is the maternal uncle, so his consent is what makes it possible. Grannie Liu takes the girl away and hides her in the country.
In Xiang Li's Hands
He is painted in the act. A small gold ingot sits cupped in both hands and he is looking down at it with a mild, untroubled face. Red brocade cap, pale green robe scattered with chrysanthemums, cold grey rock behind. She gives him no villain’s mask — only the money.
The Calligraphy
王仁, lower left, the plain full name in two characters, which in his case is also the pun the novel is making.
