Emperador Wu del Zhou del Norte
Pasó los primeros doce años de su reinado aparentando ser inofensivo mientras el regente Yuwen Hu gobernaba, lo mató personalmente en 572, suprimió tanto el budismo como el daoísmo para obtener sus tierras y sus monjes en los registros fiscales y el ejército, y destruyó el Qi del Norte en 577. Murió al año siguiente a los treinta y cinco, preparándose para marchar contra los turcos.

“Waited twelve years for his regent to die, then took the north in one campaign”
He spent the first twelve years of his reign appearing to be harmless while the regent Yuwen Hu ruled, killed him personally in 572, suppressed both Buddhism and Daoism to get their land and their monks into the tax rolls and the army, and destroyed the Northern Qi in 577. He died the next year at thirty-five, preparing to march on the Turks.
Had he lived, the dynasty that reunified China would probably have been his and not the Sui's; as it was, his son ruined it in a year and his father-in-law's colleague took it.
His empress Ashina was a Turkish princess, and appears with the other Zhou and Qi empresses on one silk.
