Dream of the Red Chamber / Dizang Nunnery 地藏庵

Yuanxin

Yuanxin 圆信 — La monja de Dizang. Una monja del Convento Dizang.

圆信

“The Nun of Dizang”

Her Story

A nun of the Dizang Nunnery. She is at the Jia house in Chapter 77, the same day as Zhitong of the Water Moon Priory, while the dismissed young actresses are being disposed of. Ouguan and Ruiguan will not be married out and ask to take vows; Yuanxin takes both away with her as disciples. The novel does not follow her, or them, any further.

In Xiang Li's Hands

Ink and almost nothing else. Robe over robe of solid black, one bright string of coral beads falling from her joined hands to an open palm below, the eye lowered, the figure in profile and mid-stride. Behind her, huge pale grey characters lie on the paper like a wall.

The Calligraphy

圆信 — the dharma name alone, brushed large in the top corner the figure has left empty.
