元英宗

“Assassinated in his tent at twenty-one”

A reformer in a hurry: he cut the Mongol nobles' subsidies, promoted Chinese officials and issued a new legal code. In 1323 a group of nobles led by his own commander killed him at a summer camp — the first Yuan emperor to be murdered, and not the last.

After him the throne changed hands almost every other year for a decade.

His empress was Sugabala, who has a painting of her own.
