“Paved a path with gold lotuses for a consort to walk on”
He killed his ministers one after another until the provinces rose, and spent the siege of his own capital building pleasure grounds. His guards murdered him and sent his head out to the besieging army.
The gold lotus paving laid for his consort Pan Yu'er is the origin of a phrase for a beautiful woman's step, which is a strange thing to survive from a reign like this.
His empress was Zhu Lingyu.
